Recital Etiquettes
Recitals can be tremendously fun and valuable experiences for young musicians.
Here are the guidelines and etiquettes all performers and audience should follow during our Winter Wonderland Recital 2024.
Performers
- Please arrive 10 minutes before your group stars.
- Please ensure your student brings their books and their instrument, already tuned.
- Wear a comfortable and appropriate attire.
- No need to get new clothes. Just choose what you already have on hand, remember that proper attire shows respected to your audience, as well as yourself, and what you have accomplished. It is a good idea to practice in your outfit, shoes included (no platform shoes, open-toed shoes, sandals or flip flops).
- Girls should not be wearing dangling or jingling jewelry which could get tangled or catch, and sleeves, hair, on the instrument during the performance.
- Performers can bow at the beginning and at the end of the performance.
- Once it is your turn, rise quickly and walk up to the stage. Adjust the bench or your instrument, pause and collect your thoughts…and begging when you are ready.
- Please respect the other performers.
- We ask cell phones and other gadgets be placed on silence to avoid interruptions during the showcase.
Audience Members
- Arrive a little early in order to find a comfortable place to sit.
- Silence all cell phones and any electrical devices that may produce sound.
- The best way to show appreciation for the performance is with thunderous applause, and an occasional “bravo” at the end of an especially noteworthy performance. It is a great accomplishment for each student.
- Please stay until the performance or event (Your Group) is completely over. Families are asked to stay for the entire recital unless there is an emergency. It is considered as disrespectful and rude to leave an ongoing music performance.
This is a celebration of each student’s hard work. Be sure to tell your student how proud you are.
It’s Vacation time…so be prepared to celebrate it!
Thank you
