Yamaha Guitar Course
“Yamaha Music Friends Course” is a new style course to learn mainly performance of musical instrument for primary school children. Primary school children are involved in various activities and especially finding time to practice at home is so difficult. Needless to say, reviewing and practicing at home is very important to improve musical skills effectively. Yamaha is providing opportunity for those children to learn music easily.
Yamaha Music Friends Course aims to meet such various demands (in the form of “Grouped-Individual Lesson”). Individual teaching improves each student’s performance skill at their own pace, while at the same time they are able to share the joy of music with friends in group time. That’s Friends Course.
Yamaha hopes that this course could fit the current situation and life style among young children and encourage more children to attend music lesson.
Three Features of the Course
1. Grouped-Individual lesson
The lesson of “Yamaha Music Friends Series” is conducted by “Grouped Individual lesson”, which has both merits of teaching in a group and teaching individually.
For the students, learning in a group provides the opportunity to learn solfege singing and ensemble playing so enjoyably and get much musical satisfaction since students sing and play together with their friends.
Individual attention to each students could further improve the skills to play the repertoire pieces based on the student’s weak area. Other than playing repertoire pieces as the fundamental and also the expectation by the parents, this course also helps students to continue attending “stress free” lesson though without regular home practice.
Therefore, in this course, the repertoire pieces are taught individually student by student and the other teaching subjects are taught in a group, which is called “Grouped-Individual Lesson”.
Also Grouped Individual Lesson allows any students with different ages and experiences to get together and attend the same class.
2. Supporting materials (sound and video)
Teacher is able to teach all pieces with the supporting materials such as mp3 and mp4.
The model performance and the accompaniment are provided by mp3, which helps students to grasp whole picture of the piece and get started learning the piece easily. Playing along with the accompaniment gives students the satisfaction to play the pieces.
Performance video of each piece are provided by mp4, which allows students to understand how to play the pieces including keyboard position as well as name of each note. These supporting materials enable easy learning at students’ learning pace.
3. Various repertoire pieces are available for students to choose
Learning various styles and genre of music provides students rich musical experiences and develop musical skills. Allowing students to choose and learn their favorite repertoire pieces becomes students’ motivations to learn more positively. Being positive helps students to practice harder and improve the playing skill effectively. Grouped individual lesson format makes it possible.
Because of the above three characteristics, even though the “Yamaha Music Friends Series” course is conducted in a group lesson, it’s very flexible and possible for students to learn the performance of the musical instruments based on each student’s interests and pace.
Please understand very well on the above characteristic of this course. Teacher is expected to be like “Facilitator” in the lesson to guide all the students to the wonderful world of playing the musical instruments through this course.
Teaching Subjects
Melody & Chord Exercise:
・Contents which students should learn in each UNIT is presented as pieces with 4 to 8 bars.
・To confirm fingering and rhythm, so that students can play Repertoire pieces smoothly.
Repertoire:
・In each UNIT, there are Repertoire pieces according to the teaching contents of each UNIT.
・To learn basic technique of guitar playing practicing famous melodies.
Ensemble:
・Pieces of duet and trio are available.
・To enhance the joy of playing music through ensemble playing together with teacher & friends.
Rock’n’ Roll Exercise:
・To practice basic finger training using chord progression in 12 bars which is common in rock’n’ roll music.
Solfege Singing:
・To get essence of masterpieces by singing & connect to the expression of performance of guitar.
・To get the feeling of pitch by singing the various genre of masterpieces by “Do Re Mi”.
Music Signs:
・To learn how to read music score.

The owner (being an accomplished musician himself) , is hands on involved with the parents as well as Jose who schedules and gets to know each student individually.
