Teora Music School’s Musical Theatre Program Classes:
Courses from the following list allow students to explore the integral skills required for success in the field, to understand professional ethics, and to prepare themselves for the joys of musical theatre.
Acting/Performance Technique: Students are introduced to the tools necessary for strong musical storytelling including given circumstances, objectives, obstacles, tactics and actions through exploration.
Movement and Dance: Students are exposed to fundamental dance techniques including jazz, modern and theatre dance. Our program places a strong emphasis on flexibility, and story-text painting through movement. Using material from our musical theatre show, students learn solo and ensemble pieces musically, and then proceed into staging and choreographed dance sequences for final presentation.
Vocal Performance: This course will give students an understanding of the voice and its physical components as applied to musical theatre. Students work on fundamentals of healthy singing: breath support, articulation, relaxation techniques, alignment and proper construction/placement.
Final Presentation
Depending on several factors, including enrollment, talent, budget, this program could be either culminate with a Full Broadway Musical Production (Ticketed Event), or a Musical Final Presentation (Non-Ticketed Even, open doors, offered for free to the community). Either way, all students will have the opportunity to present their work, generated throughout the course, to community and family. We will make that determination once we start and see what talent we have to work with.
