The Experience:

Students will be guided to work on Musical Theatre performance which will include, solo, duet, ensemble singing, acting, dancing and character development, that points them to their highest potential. Students will gain a sense of confidence, which will allow them to shine.

This 28 hours program is designed for individuals with varied levels of singing and movement ability, who want to elevate their existing skills to a high level while cultivating relationships with like minded artist.

NO AUDITION IS REQUIRED. STUDENTS WILL BE TESTED FOR VOCAL RANGE AND READING ABILITY DURING THE FIRST FEW CLASSES, AND WILL BE TAUGHT A SONG FROM THE SHOW FOR ROLE AND ENSEMBLE ASSIGNMENTS. PLEASE BE INFORMED THAT THESE ARE A MUSICAL THEATRE EDUCATIONAL CLASSES, AND THAT OUR MUSICAL THEATRE PROGRAM IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL COMPANY OR COMMUNITY THEATRE.

Teora Music School’s Musical Theatre Program Classes:

Courses from the following list allow students to explore the integral skills required for success in the field, to understand professional ethics, and to prepare themselves for the joys of musical theatre.

Acting/Performance Technique: Students are introduced to the tools necessary for strong musical storytelling including given circumstances, objectives, obstacles, tactics and actions through exploration.

Movement and Dance: Students are exposed to fundamental dance techniques including jazz, modern and theatre dance. Our program places a strong emphasis on flexibility, and story-text painting through movement. Using material from our musical theatre show, students learn solo and ensemble pieces musically, and then proceed into staging and choreographed dance sequences for final presentation.

Vocal Performance: This course will give students an understanding of the voice and its physical components as applied to musical theatre. Students work on fundamentals of healthy singing: breath support, articulation, relaxation techniques, alignment and proper construction/placement.

Final Presentation

Depending on several factors, including enrollment, talent, budget,  this program could be either culminate with a Full Broadway Musical Production (NO GUARANTEED)  (Ticketed Event), or a Broadway Musical Review (Non-Ticketed Even), where all students will have the opportunity to present their work, generated throughout the course, to community and family. We will make that determination once we start and see what talent we have to work with.

For those making the transition to 9th grade, the Teora Musical Theatre Program will give the student an opportunity to continue to perform before they start being cast in their high school musicals. 

Length: 

From Saturday Jan 27, 2024 to Saturday May 11, 2024. FINAL PRESENTATION Date: May 19 3:00 pm. (No lesson/rehearsal on Saturday March 16, 2024)

Day and Hour:

Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Dance Requirements:

Limited Spaces:

We will be accepting minimum between 10 students to open the program and Maximum 30. That will ensure a high-quality instruction and personalized attention to each participant.

6 – 16

Length: 

June Camp: From Monday June 3 to Friday June 28. FINAL PRESENTATION Date: June 29 or June 30.

July Camp: From Monday July 8 to Friday July 26. FINAL PRESENTATION Date: July 27 or July 28.

Day and Hour:

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm

June Camp:  3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, 24, 26, 28.

July Camp:  8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26

Price: $475 for the entire program (28 hours of lessons plus 4 hours for the final rehearsal and  presentation) – 5% discount for siblings enrolled. There will be a charge of 1.5% for a convenience fee. To enjoy your siblings discount please send us an email to info@teoramusic.com to be enrolled.

Terms: 100% deposit due upon your registration.

Policies: NO Tuition will be prorated if you join after the program started. 50% of tuition is non-refundable if canceled before the program starts. 100% of program tuition is non-refundable if canceled on the first day or during the program. There is not make up lessons for missing lessons, however, we can provide material and homework to level the student.

What to Bring: jazz shoes, water bottles, activewear and a fun learning attitude.

Additional: Activities will include physical and moving activities, for these reasons we suggest a comfortable and not new clothing and tennis shoes with socks.
