Jawann holds an Associate’s Degree in Music Performance from the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and an Associate’s Degree in Music from Shoreline Community College in Seattle. His broad musical background includes mentorship of student performers through the Seattle Theatre Group, where he prepared young musicians for performances alongside renowned artists such as Sheila E., QuestLove and The Roots, and Robert Glasper.

In addition to teaching, Jawann has extensive experience coaching students for auditions, recitals, and ensemble collaborations. He introduces drummers to a wide variety of styles—including rock, jazz, funk, and Latin percussion—and emphasizes healthy drumming habits, posture, and injury prevention. He is also skilled at adapting lessons for differently-abled students, ensuring inclusivity in music education.
