The Experience:
Kids will be guided to work on Musical Theatre performance which will include, solo, duet, ensemble singing, acting, dancing and character development, that points them to their highest potential. Students will gain a sense of confidence, which will allow them to shine.
This program is designed for kids with varied levels of singing and movement ability, who want to elevate their existing skills to a high level while cultivating relationships with like minded artist.
Our musical theatre production is licensed by:
NO AUDITION IS REQUIRED
Our Musical Theatre program is designed to give children the opportunity to explore and develop skills in singing, acting, and dance. During the first few classes, students will be assessed for vocal range and reading ability and will learn a song from the show to determine role and ensemble assignments.
Please note that our Musical Theatre Program is primarily educational, designed to help children explore and develop skills in singing, acting, and dance in a supportive and inclusive environment. During the first few classes, students are assessed for vocal range and reading ability, and they learn a song from the show to determine roles and ensemble assignments. This is not a commercial or community theatre production, which is why we do not hold auditions—we work with all children, regardless of prior experience or natural ability.
Our program is designed for beginners with little to no experience in Musical Theatre. If your expectations are geared toward a high-level, ticketed production and your child has already participated in that type of experience, you may prefer to consider programs that are more aligned with those expectations.
Teora Music School’s Musical Theatre Program Classes:
Courses from the following list allow students to explore the integral skills required for success in the field, to understand professional ethics, and to prepare themselves for the joys of musical theatre.
Acting/Performance Technique: Students are introduced to the tools necessary for strong musical storytelling including given circumstances, objectives, obstacles, tactics and actions through exploration.
Movement and Dance: Students are exposed to fundamental dance techniques including jazz, modern and theatre dance. Our program places a strong emphasis on flexibility, and story-text painting through movement. Using material from our musical theatre show, students learn solo and ensemble pieces musically, and then proceed into staging and choreographed dance sequences for final presentation.
Vocal Performance: This course will give students an understanding of the voice and its physical components as applied to musical theatre. Students work on fundamentals of healthy singing: breath support, articulation, relaxation techniques, alignment and proper construction/placement.
Final Presentation
Depending on several factors—including enrollment, talent, and budget—this program may culminate in either a full musical production (ticketed event) or a final musical presentation (non-ticketed event for family and friends, subject to venue capacity).
In either case, all students will have the opportunity to present the work they have developed throughout the course to our community and their families. This determination will be made once the program begins and we have a better understanding of the group and its potential.
NOTE THAT A FULL PRODUCTION IS NOT GUARANTEED
